Data and Databanks

In Infochem's Multiflash program fluid compositions are specified in terms of well-defined pure components and/or a number of petroleum fractions or pseudocomponents.

Pure component data is stored in two proprietary databanks, one for fluids ( Infodata ) and one for condensed components ( Infocond ). The latter is used by the chemical equilibria module. We are also a distributor for the much larger DIPPR™ databank, produced by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Options also exist for the user to enter their own pure component data or to interface to any other specified data format.

Customers dealing with oils or condensates can specify the C6+ component as a series of pseudocomponents. The properties of these can be defined in terms of fractions for which the user enters basic properties, such as molecular weight and specific gravity, and the program calculates the remaining properties. Alternatively the program has an analysis utility where the user can enter the data measured by a PVT laboratory or information on a black oil. The measured carbon number distribution can be fitted and characterised in terms of a chosen number of fractions to which properties will be allocated.
